# Orb web3 — design direction

## October 2: restore direct tabs and align Home (local)

All fourteen destinations remain direct desktop sidebar tabs, grouped under
Connect, Trade, Play, Community tools and Account. The navigation body scrolls
independently of the profile/call footer. Mobile keeps Home, Groups, Trade and
Wallet in the bottom bar; More offers the remaining features and name search.
The Groups button opens the searchable list of the user's own communities.

Wallet and Assistant have their own sidebar shortcuts and still open their tasks
inside the personal Trade workspace. Perpetuals, Spot, Trading assistant and
Wallet remain its four main tasks. Additional trading modes stay under More tools.
No wallet review, confirmation, account isolation or trade draft behavior changes.

Home uses one aligned layout: real communities and active calls in the main
column, compact Trade/Feed/Arena/Missions shortcuts in the second column. It
shows actual community images when available. Empty accounts get invitation and
creation actions. The previous large intent-selector block and the collapsed
Home Explore panel are no longer the Home layout. Community trade rooms remain
reachable directly. Session and mission-planning links expand the sessions panel.
On mobile these columns stack without horizontal page overflow.

This is a local revision; no push, deployment or normal Orbita service change
is part of this design work.

> Current source reviewed October 1, 2026. The newest journey changes are local, not a new public deployment. See [the release index](README.md) for shipped versus planned features and [product claims](orb-product-claims.md) for acceptance boundaries. Older dated experiments below are retained as history.

The core unit of navigation is an activity, rather than a chat server. A global sidebar separates community activities, trading and account tools, including Missions, Council and ORB. Community-specific rooms appear in a secondary panel only when they are relevant. Existing voice, text, moderation and direct messaging behaviors stay in place.

Overview is the entry point: a distinctive orbital illustration built entirely in CSS, shortcuts to functional areas and the signed-in user's actual communities. There are no fabricated balances, social statistics, feed posts or market prices.

The newest Home puts actual communities first and asks for one intent: Connect,
Trade or Play. Trade opens an accessible community trade room when available;
other features are under a collapsed Explore section. Arena opens in practice
before its separate onchain modes. `/proofs` explains wallet/Passport/community
control and independent verification without requiring a wallet signature.

Trade includes its assistant and My activity. Private drafts survive navigation
within an account's tab memory; account and wallet changes isolate the next user.
Cancelled, sent and unknown attempts do not become fresh executable tickets.

The visual system uses near-black surfaces, restrained violet accents, warm off-white text and secondary sage/blue/copper cards. Compact navigation surrounds a spacious content area. Dialogs, forms, community tools and empty states follow the same palette. The interface ships in English, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, French and Mandarin through one inline catalog with English as the fallback for an unfinished string; `npm run i18n:test` fails the build on an untranslated row, so a language cannot be claimed while quietly missing copy.

On mobile, primary navigation becomes a bottom bar. Account settings and language remain in the top bar; communities are reachable from Overview and room navigation uses the contextual drawer. The page never needs horizontal scrolling. Reduced-motion preference is honored.

Markets has its own workspace, with chart context beside the perpetual order form. Within a community trade channel, that terminal sits alongside chat or stacks above it on narrow screens. Each section scrolls independently. Testnet is labeled explicitly. The desk shows the venue's live mark price, leverage and margin limits, and every order is reviewed before it is signed with the trading key held in the user's own browser.

Identity exposes wallet login and Passport evidence; verified token/NFT/evidence role gates are implemented with moderation-tier limits. The assistant uses a configured free OpenRouter model and shows provider failures honestly.

The published Web3 testnet uses this design. Historical redesign work alone did not authorize deployment; subsequent releases were explicitly authorized. Normal Orbita remains separate.
